Fashioning Art from Paper, February – May 2019
The works of Isabelle de Borchgrave, specifically her recreations of famous dresses made from colored paper, return to Artis-Naples for another round of viewing. The artist has built herself up in the art community using this unique technique. By recreating works of art with common household supplies, she has her audience contemplate the original value and price of constructing her works as well as the accessibility of her creations. Does the original costume lose its value when it can be recreated effortlessly? Are they any less important to us? Questions like these arise at de Borchgrave’s gallery showing, proving that art IS Naples.
